The growth of healthcare technology occurs with the idea of making things easier and more transparent. In 2011 the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) created the Medicaid "Electronic Health Records Incentive Program" as part of the Affordable Care Act (known as ACA).
This was created in response to the rapid growth in healthcare expenditures as a result of an ever growing population and longer life expectancy. The intent is to create a safe, efficient and coordinated health care system.
